OUCH!

So...an update, FINALLY :)

Nathan had a Doctors appointment today, his 6 month well check. I know, I know, he was 6 months a couple of weeks ago, but we couldnt get him in until today...SO let's call it his 6 month and 2 week check up :)

Here are his current stats:
Height: 28 1/2 inches (90%)
Weight: 20lbs 13.5 oz (90%)

The Doctor commented that he is a big boy, BUT is proportional so we had nothing to worry about. PLUS, as I have mentioned many times before, the child is not the Micheline Man by any means, he is a SOLID 21lbs. His weight is a little less that what I had reported a week or so ago, but that is expected since he was in full diaper/clothes and on our home scale.

He has grown in length though! Quite a bit since his last appointment, when I think he was just 24 inches. 4 1/2 inches! Thats a ton...no wonder the kid cant fit into his 6-12 month clothes anymore!!!

Developmentally he is right on target. Nathan is really starting to sit up on his own, though I dont dare leave him while he attepts this. Someone still needs to sit real close to him at all times and watch him, but with more and more practice he will start being a little sitter in no time. He is just so top heavy with that large brain (hehe) that finding enough strenghth and balance takes him a little longer. He IS a smart one :)

OOOh, and he officially has his 2nd tooth! Yes, he grew another one if you can believe it! It is just now starting to surface, so he has been a Slobbering Fool the last couple of days. It is so cute though! He even reaches in his mouth with his fingers and feels his teeth. Oh and he also rubs his tongue on his teeth also, its just a little bit adorable :)

He rolls and rolls now, and is actually quite mobile for not being able to crawl or walk. He could move himself quite a few feet if he sees something he wants. I still have yet to figure out how he actually does this, but he sure does! He is enjoying tummy time a lot more now that he has figured out that he might be able to go somewhere while down there :) He has rediscovered his little play gym now that he can see the mat and all the crazy characters on it :)

Nathan LOVES to laugh. We are talking belly laughs. He is still all boy, and laughs at anything that sounds like a fart or a burp. Someone should video Jonathon and I communicating these days. We both walk around the house making farting noises just to make Nathan laugh. It has gotten to the point where we have both found ourselves, without Nathan, walking around making farting noises. Quite entertaining I am sure (either that or people think we are sick individuals).

I have found that both Nathan and my day go much smoother and we both are much happier if we get out and do a special activity at least once a day. This does not include going to the gym, as that is our normal routine. SO, this week I have really tried to do something new with him...even if it is as simple as taking him out of his carrier and going into Target without the carrier. At least he is seeing a different point of view, so its kind of an adventure. We have also gone swimming, for a couple of walks and out to Nan's. He is MUCH happier when he isnt couped up in the house, and especially in our tv room. I can not wait for better weather when we can start walking with Jeanne and Audrey, or going to swimming lessons and visiting the park playground :)

Nathan HATES HATES HATES peas and beans. HATES them. Its actually very funny watching his face and then seeing him BLOW them out of his mouth. I keep trying to get him to eat a couple of bites so he learns to at least tolerate them...I am not having much luck though, which the Doctor assured me was okay. He does LOVE peaches (homemade are his favorite...Thanks LIZ!), applesauce and just got his first taste of bananas today. He was a little shivery at the first bite but he warmed up to then very quickly! He has become such a good eater, as I think the reason for using a spoon has registered in his brain. I honestly think we could discontinue the bottle at any time, and he wouldnt miss it...except for when he goes to bed at night. Though, I am not sure he really NEEDS the bottle to go to sleep, just the "food" that is in it.

He has become a pretty good sleeper...as I jinx myself saying this...he sleeps from 8pm to 4 or 5am. On the rare, rare occiasion he will sleep all the way until 7am. Though there is also the rare occasion that he wakes up at midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am, and 7am. He still takes 2-3 naps a day, but I really think he is getting to the point of just needing 2. His 3rd nap, IF he takes it, seems to be getting later and later in the day and I try real hard not to let him sleep past 5 at the latest. Its just a matter of getting our mornings together, since they always seem to differ with us hitting the gym.

He definately lets you know when he is tired, hungry, or just sick of being held or in his jumper. He isnt a man of many words, but when he does "speak" he lets ya know exactly what he thinks ;) He DOES try and have conversations with you, especially while you are talking to someone else...he just chimes in as if he knows exactly what is being said. He has said "mmmmuummmm" and "nnnngggg" and "oooh". They say he should be saying "dadada" by now, but whatever, he will say it in his own time I am sure.

He does growl and can roll his "g's" if that makes sense. He sounds like Chubaca sometimes.

What else. Oh the child LOVES LOVES LOVES his dad. He just lights up. I know I have mentioned that, but I do think Jonathon is Nathan's favorite person to play with. He loves just sitting with Jonathon at the computer and listening to music or just hanging with Jonathon on the couch watching basketball.

Nathan LOVES books :) Yeah! he loves just sitting on your lap and looking at the pictures. He doesnt quite understand the whole "reaing" part of book time, but he does get the concept of turning pages. Oh and he likes to make sure the books TASTE good as well :)

Today he has been a little Mama's Boy (not that I mind THAT much ;)) because of the shots he got at the Doctor. Poor little guy just cried and cried for about 5 minutes and then wimpered when we got home and finally let himself go to sleep. He is a little fussy now, and doesnt want me to leave his sight today. It is very sweet, and I am sure I would be yearning for my Mom if I had to get shots in the legs. :(

Thats the update that I can think of right now. I am SURE there is more, but I can never think of it all ....
