First Trip to the Dentist

Nathan went to the Dentist last week, for the first time. In all the books, they say you should start making Dentist visits when the child starts getting teeth. Well, Nathan started getting teeth at 5 months...so according to the "professionals", we are a little late in getting there. Alas, I here he is at his first Dentist appointment. They really couldn't do a whole lot in the cleaning area, as Nathan wouldn't open his mouth for longer than 2 seconds, and he kept biting all the instruments...but they said his teeth look fine and to come back when he was 3. It was a good visit...for about 10 minutes, and after that Nathan caught on and wanted to go home. By the time we waited for the Doctor, he was done...ready to go get the sticker they kept promising him. ;) Smart kid!

Sprouting Out of Nowhere

I was changing Nathan's diaper this morning, and he was laughing at something...and something in his mouth caught my eye. Hmmm...I wondered, what the heck is that???? I looked closer and realized that HE HAS HIS TOP MOLARS (or however you spell the back teeth in your mouth). Uh, yeah...they are through the gums and well on their way. Right now, they look like fangs back there...

BUT when the heck did that happen? This child is sprouting teeth all over the place. In the last 3 weeks or so, he has gotten 4 more teeth in the front (two on top and two on bottom), and apparently two in the way way back.

I give him 6 months and he will have a full mouth.

He certainly isnt a baby anymore, folks.

Creepin' and Crawlin'

It is official...the Nate Dawg is crawling!
Okay, he still rolls/creeps/skoots the majority of the time, but yesterday, he actually CRAWLED many times in the process! Of course, its still not fast enough for his liking so now he is also trying to get on his feet...but, doesnt quite understand that he can't use his hands, so he ends up on his hands and feet, and a bridge type position. Then frustration occurs because he cant move in that position (as seen above).

OH, and another update...he has another tooth! It is his upper left tooth, and it isnt quite in yet, but you can sure see it coming! No wonder he has been a drooling fool the last week or so! :)

Oh and while I am at it, I might as well just update a few other things that I hadnt gotten the chance to yet...let's see...

Books
Nathan LOVES books. Well, he no longer likes to just eat books (except the Baby Einstein book that Grand Mom Gerwing gave him. He LOVES to eat that book so we have banned it indefinately. Although, half of it is gone anyhow.), he now really enjoys being read a book. His favorite thing to do is sit in my lap while I read him a book. Its not just any old book either, he doesnt much like the books with actual stories, he prefers the simple books that just have pictures of animlas or other kids, or letters and colors. He is a simple kind of guy...;)

Cats
Nathan started noticing the cats a few months ago, but now he REALLY notices them and giggles when they come around. Lucky for us, and for the cats, they dont get too close...except Kitty. Kitty is so attention starved that she is brave enough to let Nathan "pet" her. She rubs up against him and WANTs attention from him, however Nathan normally grabs and yanks her, which isnt good. Kitty is a VERY good cat though, as she has never been agressive to him. She just sits there and takes it like a champ. This morning, he was testing out his new crawling skills and started crawling after her...she was a little uneasy about that, but I think she liked the attention.

YEAH!!!
Nathan has learned to clap his hands whenever we say "Yeah!". Or when he sees someone else clapping. The other morning, while getting ready for the gym, Regis and Kelly was on and Nathan was playing on the floor...when they introduced Regis and Kelly he saw everyone clapping, so he started clapping too! It was quite entertaining and one of those moments that the video camera should have been charged and ready to go!

Copy Cat
Nathan is such a copy cat. He will click his tongue if you do it first, or stick out is tongue after you do it. It is entertaining. He as started wrinkling his nose when he smiles or laughs, I think because I make that face to him a lot. Its fun to see what kinds of faces and noises he can make.

Thats all I can muster up right now...per normal I am sure I am forgetting something important...
