So last weekend, Nathan experienced his first plane ride(s). We went from Louisville to St. Louis to Salt Lake City. There was a three hour delay in St. Louis (per normal), but Nathan was a champ. He was the PERFECT child while traveling :) Never once fussed, only to tell us he was hungry. He slept most of the time when the plane took off and just looked around the airports during our delays. So far, Nathan has been in Louisville, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Park City, Heber City, and Chicago. WORLD TRAVELER already :)
The visit with my family was great! It was so nice to see everyone and let them see Little Natey. The cousins adored him. Kreed really took to him, and was a big help. Zane did too! It was so cute seeing Zane hold Nathan...I wish I would have taken a picture of it.
We got home Monday, late...and lets just say, I think Nathan was just overly stimulated over the weekend. With all the traveling, the new people (and a LOT of them), being passed around and held...and the odd schedule, the poor little guy didnt know what to do with himself yesterday. He fussed and fussed and wouldnt sleep. So, we made some changes last night, and seem to be getting back on track...or on A track. I am glad that we dont have any company coming in, nor are we going anywhere, for a while (dont get me wrong, the company is nice...and I am glad everyone has come in to see Nathan...but it has just been a lot, and we really havent had a change to create a schedule or create some normalcy in our days. Val - dont let this deter you from coming...Nathan wants to meet his 'Auntie Val"). Hopefully we can gain some sort of order around here :)
Also, Nathan spent his first night in his crib last night...and the pack-n-play came down today. Since his nursery isnt that far away (okay, not far at all) from our room, I didnt think it would hurt for him to start sleeping in his room/crib. It helped so much last night...either that or he was so tuckered from all the traveling. I guess ask me tomorrow if it has helped with his sleeping. I have decided that he needs consistency with that too. I have been just lying him wherever to sleep once he falls to sleep...or someone is always holding him while he sleeps. That has to end...so, now when it is bedtime, or time to nap, he is to be put in his crib OR left in his car seat (until he wakes) if he falls sleep while in the car. I think he just needs to know when and where it is bed/naptime. So far, it is going well. He seems to like his crib, which is a good thing. He LOVES his room, as I have mentioned, so I think that makes it easier.
Also, the kid LOVES music (go figure). He has to sleep with music on, or thus far while in his crib. He LOVES Jack Johnson and the Curious George soundtrack. I have a few Baby Einstein cds that he enjoys...and also the cd that my Mom gave me of church hymns.
Anyway, thats the update...for now.
Oh and also...for those out there wondering...I resigned from my position at Churchill last week. I have decided that this time with Nathan is too important and precious to miss, and working the hours that I was and would be at Churchill just wasnt worth it (even though I did enjoy the job and LOVED the people). :) Tough decision...
