Traveling Fools...
So last weekend, Nathan experienced his first plane ride(s). We went from Louisville to St. Louis to Salt Lake City. There was a three hour delay in St. Louis (per normal), but Nathan was a champ. He was the PERFECT child while traveling :) Never once fussed, only to tell us he was hungry. He slept most of the time when the plane took off and just looked around the airports during our delays. So far, Nathan has been in Louisville, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Park City, Heber City, and Chicago. WORLD TRAVELER already :)
The visit with my family was great! It was so nice to see everyone and let them see Little Natey. The cousins adored him. Kreed really took to him, and was a big help. Zane did too! It was so cute seeing Zane hold Nathan...I wish I would have taken a picture of it.
We got home Monday, late...and lets just say, I think Nathan was just overly stimulated over the weekend. With all the traveling, the new people (and a LOT of them), being passed around and held...and the odd schedule, the poor little guy didnt know what to do with himself yesterday. He fussed and fussed and wouldnt sleep. So, we made some changes last night, and seem to be getting back on track...or on A track. I am glad that we dont have any company coming in, nor are we going anywhere, for a while (dont get me wrong, the company is nice...and I am glad everyone has come in to see Nathan...but it has just been a lot, and we really havent had a change to create a schedule or create some normalcy in our days. Val - dont let this deter you from coming...Nathan wants to meet his 'Auntie Val"). Hopefully we can gain some sort of order around here :)
Also, Nathan spent his first night in his crib last night...and the pack-n-play came down today. Since his nursery isnt that far away (okay, not far at all) from our room, I didnt think it would hurt for him to start sleeping in his room/crib. It helped so much last night...either that or he was so tuckered from all the traveling. I guess ask me tomorrow if it has helped with his sleeping. I have decided that he needs consistency with that too. I have been just lying him wherever to sleep once he falls to sleep...or someone is always holding him while he sleeps. That has to end...so, now when it is bedtime, or time to nap, he is to be put in his crib OR left in his car seat (until he wakes) if he falls sleep while in the car. I think he just needs to know when and where it is bed/naptime. So far, it is going well. He seems to like his crib, which is a good thing. He LOVES his room, as I have mentioned, so I think that makes it easier.
Also, the kid LOVES music (go figure). He has to sleep with music on, or thus far while in his crib. He LOVES Jack Johnson and the Curious George soundtrack. I have a few Baby Einstein cds that he enjoys...and also the cd that my Mom gave me of church hymns.
Anyway, thats the update...for now.
Oh and also...for those out there wondering...I resigned from my position at Churchill last week. I have decided that this time with Nathan is too important and precious to miss, and working the hours that I was and would be at Churchill just wasnt worth it (even though I did enjoy the job and LOVED the people). :) Tough decision...

My Buddy...

So...4 weeks old
Hard to believe that only 4 weeks ago I was in the hospital with Nathan. Thinking back...he has changed SO much! I don't think I noticed the changes until this week. Its as if he remained the same until this last week, and wahlah...he has filled out and looks like he has grown 9 inches! He is getting so big! It kind of breaks my heart...I now know what my mom and dad meant whey they would tell me they wanted to put bricks on my head so I would'nt grow. I want Nathan to stay a newborn for forever...but at the same time, I can't wait to take him to the playground or swimming. Its all so overwhelming, and so enjoyable at the same time. I am really loving being a mother...though I do worry, quite a bit, if I am a good mother. I hope that is normal...
So, a little about Nathan right now. He eats about every 3 hours. Sometimes it is less, and every once in a while it is more (but not often at all). He sleeps a lot (except at night it seems). He is starting to stay awake more and more, and now has definate "awake times". He seems to be on an 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm, 2am, 5am schedule - foodwise. His awake times are normally after his 8am feeding, and then after his 8pm feeding. During his awake times he just likes to look around. He LOVES the color red and LOVES music. In the mornings, after he is fed, bathed and clothed, we try to sit in the rocker and read a book or listen to music on his little cd player. Its very peaceful in his nursery, and he seems to really like being in there. Currently, he sleeps in the pack-n-play next to our bed, for easy access, but I dont think the move to his crib is too far in the future. It just seems so big right now.
Anyway...we have started to get more comfortable getting out of the house. We take walks a couple times a week, or go to Jonathon's softball games. I have noticed that if we do too much in one day, Nathan is fussy at night. Same with allowing too many new people to hold him...it just makes bedtime and the entire night rough (for him and me).
What else? right now I think that is it...

Jumping on the bandwagon....
Call me a copy cat...but I have really enjoyed checking in on Little Liam Nino and seeing the pictures and hearing how he has changed. Our family keeps asking for more pictures of Nathan...and we take them, but dont always get them downloaded or available for people to see. Jonathon has attempted to put a little webpage together, but I think this might be a nicer format for everyone to visit. So...Call me a copy cat.
